Volunteer Development Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY: The Development Coordinator will report to Executive Director. In this role, the Development Coordinator will become adept in stewardship activities related to non-profit fundraising and relationship management, including implementing the fundraising, development and communications strategy for Justin's Quest. The Development Coordinator will perform administrative duties related to fundraising, marketing and public relations and will gain firsthand experience in strategic planning to increase the capacity of a small and growing non-profit organization. Justin's Quest has a very small staff so the Development Coordinator will also be asked to support the Executive Director by providing administrative support as needed.
Justin's Quest relies extensively upon volunteers to leverage staff resources and the Development Coordinator will work closely with other volunteers. We value relationship-based fundraising, and seek an individual whose goals are to become a well-recognized development professional. The Executive Director will work closely with the Development Coordinator to establish and cultivate skills in the development field while accomplishing the targets of the development department.
This role will serve as the catalyst for a successful career in non-profit fundraising and relationship management for the right candidate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the development and implementation of the Development Plan that incorporates a range of strategies including annual appeals, major donors, grants, corporate and individual appeals, and special events.
Support and be willing to assume a leadership role in the execution of special events and Justin's Quest annual fundraising events.
Coordinate social media outputs on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and perform simple website updates.
Ability to create simple flyers and marketing materials in Publisher, and e-mail newsletters in Constant Contact.
Perform administrative duties as needed including filing, copying, sorting, mailing, credit card reconciliation, etc.
Record all donations in a donor management database, ensuring accuracy of all entries and making corrections as needed.
Ensure that all donations are recognized and thank you receipts/letters issued promptly.
Attend events with the Executive Director to increase your professional network, refine your relationship management skills, provide administrative assistance as needed and enhance Justin's Quest outreach and capacity. Other duties upon request.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience with organizing large fundraisers and/or special events
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of social media tools: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and website management
Ability to handle some flexible hours (weekdays, some evenings, and an occasional Saturday and Sunday to help with events)
Interest and desire to learn how to become an impactful development professional
An understanding of and belief in the mission of Justins Quest.
Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of event management, processes, and available resources including social marketing and web-based strategies.
Organizational, project planning and leadership skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills: ability to interact effectively with community leaders, board members, corporate managers, prospects, donors, and a variety of volunteers.
Must be able to coordinate multiple tasks and be open to new learning experiences.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Positive attitude, creativity, drive, enthusiasm and initiative to carry projects to conclusion.
Strong knowledge Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to learn database management software required.

Experience using database management software
Experience organizing special events and/or
Experience using social media for fundraising
